Women on a Mission

To this you were called…that you should follow in His steps. I Peter 2:21

We, the ladies of Women on a Mission, take the challenge of following in His steps very seriously.  To do so we have made it our goal to aide and encourage each other in doing just that.  Our plan is two-fold:  1) to grow in our own personal relationship with our Lord; and, 2) to serve Him with our Christian sisters as we minister to our world around us — and beyond.

Our monthly meetings help us in carrying out this plan.  First, our programs encourage our growth in Him as we examine the lives of women from the Bible and our present day who walk(ed) with Him.  Secondly, working together we have opportunities to reach out to our world both locally and globally.  Some of our local projects reach out to our own membership – the homebound and shut-ins, our college students, and our military.  Partnering with other agencies and contacts, we minister to those less fortunate than ourselves – individuals, families, orphanages, and prisons.  Globally, again through partnerships and special offerings, we assist in providing Bibles and educational literature along with the most basic needs of life.

We invite you to come and check us out.  We currently meet on the third Thursday of each month at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall.  We’re looking forward to seeing you this month!

Topic:  Living Well and Dying Well:  Surrendering My Life to His Plan

We all have read headlines from around the world that reveal the severity of persecution Christians face today.  But, persecution of Christians is not unique to our world.  Believers in the first-century church also suffered persecution for their faith in Jesus.  As the church began to grow, the Jewish leaders opposed the disciples and tried to silence their teaching.  Stephen, whom we will study this month, was one such believer.  His life glorified God thereby attracting the attention of the opposition.  The vast majority of us will serve God in a safe and comfortable place.  However, into some of our lives, God will allow persecution, suffering, and possibly even death.  Join us as we study how Stephen’s total surrender to and dependence upon the Holy Spirit can be an example for us.  No matter the circumstances, let us, like him, commit to living well and dying well so God might be glorified through our lives.
