Andy Hubert
Non-Staff Pastor
Andy Hubert serves as a Pastor at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. He grew up in a nominal Christian home where Christ was understood to be the Son of God but without much meaning or significance attached to that reality. Church was simply a social gathering with teachings in morality. Andy was pretty good at morality and found his identity in good grades and telling on his older brother. Despite his abhorrent self-righteousness, God poured out boundless mercies on Andy while he was in high school. He was befriended by a group of young Christians who actually understood the gospel of the righteous God sending his Son to bear their sins (including Andy’s self-righteousness) through his willing torture upon the Cross. This group also demonstrated God’s worthliness of being worshipped in the way they sang to the risen Lord, and their faith in his word through the careful attention they gave it. This witness gradually took hold of Andy until one day he himself became a worshipper of God through Christ in late high school. He proclaimed this faith through baptism in 1997.
Andy studied Computer Science in college and grew in his faith through participation in a campus ministry. Following graduation, he spent two years oversees in two different countries serving as an evangelist with this campus organization. The next season brought Andy to Los Angeles, CA for two years where he did college ministry at USC and met his wife, Sarah. The next few years were spent at Bethlehem College and Seminary, where Andy received a Masters in Biblical and Pastoral Studies, after which Andy and Sarah moved to Israel for a decade. There, they served to spread the gospel and build the church. In 2020, the Huberts moved to Hickory and have been a part of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church ever since, with Andy beginning his role as a non-paid pastor in 2025.
Andy has felt God’s pleasure in shepherding his wife and five living children, and now a local church alongside his fellow pastors. It is his great hope to play a significant role in building up and training more pastors to serve within Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and beyond. Occupationally, Andy manages biblearc.com, overseeing a small team of instructors in Bible study methods and support staff.
